Vodafone brings EuroTraveller to pay as you go customers
As the summer holidays approach, Vodafone has announced today that pay as you go users can now benefit from its EuroTraveller service, for £2 per day, starting from 21st July.
EuroTraveller is Vodafone’s offer that lets you take your UK minutes, texts, and data with you when travelling within the European zone as defined by the network (see press release below).
However, unlike the existing version for contract customers, while the prepay version lets you take all your minutes and texts, there’s a fixed daily allowance of 100MB for data.
The £2 per day price is also marked as a special offer, rising to £3 on 31st August 2014.
With Three recently having extended its Feel at Home service, without adding popular summer holiday destinations like Spain, Greece or Turkey (all three covered by EuroTraveller), Vodafone users are now less likely to get burnt this summer.
Vodafone also recommends that prepay users check that international roaming is enabled on their account by calling 191, and set up voicemail if it hasn’t been already before leaving the UK.

- Vodafone UK launches EuroTraveller on Pay as you go on 21 July 2014

Vodafone UK’s Pay as you go customers visiting Europe will be able to spend more time talking, texting and surfing the web. From 21 July 2014, customers can opt into Vodafone EuroTraveller on Pay as you go and use their existing UK price plan of voice minutes, texts along with 100MB of data, when they are travelling in our Europe zone, for a special offer price of just £2* a day.
Pay as you go customers can opt-in for no extra charge and will only pay for the days they use their mobile abroad. They can continue to use their chosen Vodafone Freebee pack or Extras** just like they do at home and will not be charged a penny to receive calls and texts.
Vodafone UK was one of the first to launch a spending cap on data when using your phone anywhere in the world, meaning all customers can surf the web anywhere in the world, safe in the knowledge they will not run up an expectedly large bill. The good news is any customer using Vodafone EuroTraveller on Pay as you go will receive a free text alert when they are near to their 100MB data limit so they know how much they have spent.
They will also be covered by our data spending cap which mean once they hit our monthly £41.29 limit they will not be able to use their mobile internet overseas unless they text STOP to 40209 or call customer services on 191 from their Pay as you go mobile.

ONE LAST THING – HELP AND TIPS BEFORE YOU LEAVE
Getting set up – Some phones are automatically barred from working abroad. Customers should always call 191 to make sure their phone will work when abroad.
Getting your voicemail – Listening to voicemail whilst abroad is easy but customers will need to set a security code before they go. Just call 121, then select 4, then 2. Accessing voicemail whilst abroad is charged at your standard rate for calling the UK.
Finding out costs – To check what the cost will be to make and receive calls and texts when abroad, text FROM followed by the name of the country (e.g. FROM SPAIN) to 4636.
