Honor Magic 7 Lite promises to be a tough one to beat

Honor has announced the first phone in the new Magic 7 series, and it’s anything but soft.

Honor Magic 7 Lite

The first new smartphone of 2025 is being marketing somewhat differently to all the other phones released of late, with the theme being the strength of the device – such that Honor shipped the phone in a box marked ‘not fragile’ and invited me to put the phone through a series of tests that would not feature in most of my handset tests normally.

I’ll have some of those in my upcoming review, but for now let’s look at the handset and its specifications – plus look at the price, which for early customers will be just £399.99 SIM-free (and that’s a phone with 8GB of RAM and a whopping 512GB of storage).

Besides being able to endure various levels of abuse, including temperatures as low as -30 degrees C and as high as 55C, and a drop from two metres, the Honor Magic 7 Lite comes with an impressive set of features that makes it stand out in other ways too.

Firstly, there’s a mammoth 6,600mAh Silicon-carbon battery (along with 66W wired charging support, with the charger included for people ordering at the time of launch). Secondly a tough 6.78-inch curved OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and up to 4,000 nits peak brightness. Thirdly, powerful stereo sound to complete the media consumption package. And fourth, everything is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC.

Camera wise, there’s a 108-megapixel Ultra-sensing camera with OIS and EIS, utilising 9-in-1 pixel binning for an effective pixel size of 1.92μm. Three times lossless zoom is also included, along with many more tried-and-tested camera features that feature on other smartphones in the Honor Magic family. AI features in the form of functions like AI Erase and the automatic detection of movement to capture the best photo without any user intervention. There’s also an ultrawide camera, and a 16-megapixel selfie camera.

Despite all this, the phone measures just 7.98mm in thickness and weighs just 189g.

Pricing and Availability

Two colours are available at launch: Titanium Purple and Titanium Black, with sales starting from January 15th. You can purchase the phone from Honor’s own site, as well as EE, Virgin Media O2, Three, Vodafone, Argos, Very and Currys – at £399.99.

Early adopters can benefit from different promotions from the above retailers and networks, such as a pair of Honor Earbuds Open and/or a 66W SuperCharger fast charger.
