Oppo has struck a deal to range the Oppo A5 2020 in O2 stores, with the phone available to buy from today.

Costing £169 on prepay, or as little as £19.20 per month on a handset contract, the Oppo A5 2020 will also be available from Carphone Warehouse and Amazon, but at a higher SIM-free price of £179.

The Oppo A5 comes with 3GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and a massive 5,000mAh battery, powered by Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 665 eight-core chipset.

It also sports a 6.5-inch 720×1600 pixel display with 89% screen-to-body ratio (and teardrop notch) and dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.

Oppo is marketing this phone as the perfect inspiration to ‘play’ with the camera and gaming capabilities, and the long battery life. There’s also Game Boost 2.0 to further enhance gameplay.

The A5 2020 comes with a quad-camera configuration, including a 12-megapixel primary camera, 8-megapixel ultra-wide (119 degree field-of-view), a 2-megapixel mono lens to aid in low-light photography, followed by a 2-megapixel portrait camera for portrait/bokeh effects.

The camera interface includes all types of shooting scenarios, portrait styles and Ultra Night Mode 2 to give extra noise reduction in low-light situations, with the use of HDR helping to get the most from all those nocturnal shots.

For video recording, Oppo has included its latest stabilisation technology that has also featured in more expensive models.

Plenty of gaming potential from a powerful mid-range chipset, Game Boost 2 and a huge battery

On the front of the phone is an 8-megapixel selfie camera with AI Beautification technology, identifying skin tone, age, gender and skin colour.

Reverse charging is another feature of the Oppo A5 2020, to use that 5,000mAh battery to charge other devices

The Oppo A5 2020 comes out of the box running Android 9 and ColorOS 6, but the phone is set to get an update to ColorOS 7 (built around Android 10) later this year.
