Hands-on with the Cosmo Communicator
I had a play with the new Cosmo Communicator, which now has a backlit keyboard and is going to be very popular with anyone old enough to remember the Psion organiser days.
The keyboard is like no other and very easy to type on, and it's a fast and powerful device with a decent sized battery.
Not cheap, mind.
It looks nice, but it unlikely to be anything but really niche.
Yes, it is niche but I think they're doing very well and even have proper distribution in some markets. I think Verizon has taken it, for example.
I think one reason it can work better now than years ago is because so much of what we do is in the cloud. So one minute you're editing a document on your laptop or desktop, the next you're continuing on your PDA. Later you do a few final touches on your phone.
The Cosmo and Gemini complement other devices rather than try to replace them.
