When Vodafone announced the Smart Platinum 7 along with two other models earlier this month, I – like many I’m sure – thought it odd the Smart Ultra 6 had been replaced by a phone costing more than twice as much. Unbeknownst to me at the time, the Platinum […]
Vodafone has been pushing its own brand handsets for some time (ten years in fact), but few have been as premium as the new Smart Platinum 7 announced today. The Smart Platinum 7 is a big step up from the £100 Smart Ultra 6, and that’s no bad […]
Vodafone today unveiled two new own-brand smartphones, the Smart Prime 7 that retails at £75, and the Smart First 7 that will set you back just £25. These are the pay as you go prices, and you’ll also be able to get the Smart Prime 7 on a pay monthly contract too, […]
For many years the EU has been slowly reducing the cost of using your phone within the EU. From June 15th 2017, it should become no more expensive than using your phone in the UK. But this isn’t about that, but rather a look at what options you have available when […]
Now it’s the turn of EE to offer a bargain SIM-only plan (great for Three users considering options)
As those letters to Three customers on older tariffs continue to land on doormats up and down the country, it’s the turn of EE to offer a deal that could offer an alternative to phoning up and haggling for a discount. (This follows the amazing deal that Vodafone advertised […]
Most attention at Mobile World Congress next week will be given to the new flagship offerings from the likes of LG, Samsung, and HTC, but today LG spoke of two new handsets that caught my eye. Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Mobile said: “…we think there’s room for devices […]
Okay, that’s a bit of a click bait headline so apologies – but it is genuinely good news for everyone – including Three users that recently got their letter. Although Vodafone perhaps announced its latest promotion a bit early by mistake (but I managed to grab a screen […]
This evening I heard about a rather interesting mobile broadband deal from Three. Following an purchase of the SIM for £10, which comes with 1GB of 4G data pre-loaded, you’ll then enjoy 200MB of data free every month. There’s no need to worry about exceeding your allowance and running up a bill because […]
Vodafone today announced the Tab speed 6, a 4G-enabled 8-inch tablet that will retail on prepay for just £125, or from £16 per month on contract (with 3GB of data included). The specs provided by Vodafone are pretty sparse (see below), and the selection of images even more […]
It’s been a long time since I last visited Vodafone’s Newbury HQ to talk about the introduction of GSM, and how mobile data might one day become a thing. We’re talking about a time when the company worked out of multiple offices dotted around town. Now the new(ish) campus has […]
The £129 Wileyfox Swift has to be my favourite budget phone of the year so far, so I had high hopes for its bigger brother; The £199 Wileyfox Storm. A great deal of my ‘love’ is due to the use of Cyanogen OS, which keeps things as close to native […]
Before Google officially announced the Nexus 6P at the end of September, I Tweeted about the possibility that it might be a dual-SIM phone, based on seeing twin IMEI stickers on prototypes – a standard feature on all recent Huawei made phones with support for two SIM cards. Two stickers on the […]
Following my news a couple of weeks ago that stated Three would switch on its 800MHz network to launch Voice over LTE (VoLTE) on September 10th (which it did, for Galaxy S5 owners), the network has today confirmed some more details. However, before everyone gets too excited, there’s still […]
It’s now becoming a bit of a tradition, and yesterday saw another day of testing in and around London to see how mobile data speeds are faring, checking how 4G continues to roll out and speeds increase with new technology, but also the impact of more people taking advantage […]
On paper, this low cost 4G smartphone appears to be quite a bargain – but can it really offer a similar experience to any of its more expensive rivals?
No sooner has the Glastonbury themed promotion ended, but EE launches a new one. This time to celebrate Summer.
Introducing the Rook smartphone from EE, one of the cheapest smartphones to bring high-speed 4G access to the masses, and also shipping with Android 5.1 out of the box. It’s on sale to buy from today, but is it any good? I’ve written rather a lot about devices […]
Remember before Christmas when EE was offering a crazy 200GB of data for nothing? Well, now it’s offering another limited edition PAYG SIM, this time with 100GB of data valid for two months. This time around you’ll need to add a £10 top-up on your account and buy a 1GB […]
Three today announced a major network expansion that will see 800MHz LTE switched on from September, accompanied by the launch of VoLTE that will ultimately help bring Three coverage to an extra 3.2 million homes.
Vodafone is now offering customers a whopping 25GB data allowance on new 12 and 24-month handset contracts, along with free calls from Europe back to the UK.
