Oppo launches 2020 edition A9; quad-camera, stereo sound and a giant battery for £220
In addition to launching the Reno 2 series last week, Oppo has introduced an even more affordable phone that still comes with its own quad-camera setup.

The Oppo A9, 2020 edition, will retail for £219.99 SIM-free from Carphone Warehouse, as well as on contract from Carphone Warehouse or EE with pricing starting at just £16.99 per month.
Powered by a octo-core Snapdragon 665 chipset, with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, the A9 2020 also comes with a massive 5,000mAh battery.
And unlike far more expensive phones limited to a maximum of 128GB (Google, I’m looking at you), the A9 2020 also has a memory expansion slot so you can add even more storage for photos, videos and other files.
In fact, the slot allows for three cards at once so you can have up to two SIM cards and a memory card inserted at the same time.
Sony magic
On the camera side, it is now abundantly clear that mobile photography is now becoming incredibly competitive at all price points, and the A9 2020 comes with the fantastic Sony 48-megapixel camera that now features on loads of different phones (including flagships), an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens (with 119 degree field-of-view), plus a 2-megapixel mono lens to aid low-light photography, and a 2-megapixel depth sensing camera to aid portrait photos.

Ultra Night Mode offers low-light photography, working on both the main and ultra-wide angle cameras.
On the front is a 16-megapixel selfie-camera, accompanied by an AI Beautification mode that recognises skin tone, age, gender and skin colour.
Video recording benefits from stabilisation to keep things steady when walking, cycling or running.
If you’re wondering how all of this is possible on a phone costing a little over £200, there is a compromise when it comes to the display.
The 6.5-inch display with waterdrop notch for the camera is limited to 720×1600 pixels, giving it a PPI density of 270.
However, despite the drop in pixels, the screen can be read in strong direct and also comes with a blue light filter to reduce eye fatigue.
Audio wise, the A9 2020 has dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos sound effects, with Hi-Res Audio certification.
Finally, for gaming the phone comes complete with Game Boost 2.0 acceleration.
The Oppo A9 2020 is on sale now.
