OnePlus announces it has a foldable coming too, but not until the second half of the year

2023 is quickly becoming the year of the foldable. Now we have offerings from more than just Samsung, with Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, Honor and more entering the ring. The latest contender will be OnePlus.

This probably isn’t a huge surprise given OnePlus’ relationship with Oppo, which now has two foldable devices on the market this year – just like Samsung – albeit only the Find N2 Flip being released in the UK.

But at a ‘From Fast & Smooth to Beyond’ panel discussion held in Barcelona, during Mobile World Congress, OnePlus announced it will launch a folding smartphone in the second half of the year.

The company was a little light on detail, other than to point out that its product would be a flagship that wouldn’t settle for anything less just because of its form.

“Our first foldable phone will have the signature OnePlus fast and smooth experience. It must be a flagship phone that doesn’t settle because of its folding form, in terms of industrial design, mechanical technology, and other aspects. We want to launch a device that aims to be at the pinnacle experience of today’s foldable market.”

Kinder Liu, President and COO of OnePlus

More information will be given in the coming months, along with information on how OnePlus intends to build a stronger smart ecosystem over the next five years.
