Honor 400 5G and 400 Pro 5G launch with features to excite mobile photographers

Two new Honor 400 series smartphones were launched today, to make a total of three in the number series line-up.

The Honor 400 5G and Honor 400 Pro 5G each boast great features for smartphone photographers, including an impressive specification for the flagship model, which is biting on the heels of the premier Honor Magic 7 Pro.

First up is the Honor 400 5G, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, and will retail for £399.99 with 256GB of storage or £449 with 512GB of storage.

The Honor 400 5G comes with a leading 200-megapixel ultra-clear super zoom (30x) camera, 12-megapixel ultra wide camera, and a 50-megapixel AI selfie camera. It includes AI features such as ‘AI Eraser’ and ‘AI Outpainting’ (that can increase the canvas size of an image by filling in the blank area surrounding your photo).

Other features included on Magic OS 9.0 include various AI tools such as AI Translation (real-time translation), ‘AI Summary’, and ‘AI Recorder’.

The battery is an impressive 5,300mAh and supports 66W SuperCharge wired fast-charging.

The large 6.55-inch display maxes out at 5,000 nits on HDR playback (peak brightness) and comes with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Next up is the flagship Honor 400 Pro 5G, with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, IP69 rating, 5,300 battery, 100W wired charging, a 5,000 nits peak brightness display measuring 6.7-inches, 120Hz refresh rate, AI Eye Comfort Display, and 12GB of RAM with 512GB storage.

On the camera side, it comes with a 200-megapixel ultra-clear main camera with f/1.9 aperture and OIS+EIS stabilisation, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS, plus a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera. On the front you’ll find a 50-megapixel selfie camera and 2-megapixel depth camera.

Like the Honor 400 5G and other recent Honor smartphone releases, the phone is also packed out with AI features, both for the camera, as well as other functions of the phone. Some AI camera features available on the Pro includes ‘AI Erase passers-by’ and ‘AI Remove Reflection’.

Another feature is the Google-powered AI image to video feature, that seeks to create a video from a static photograph. In addition, a moving photo collage allows the combination of between two and nine mobile photos to be seamlessly stitched into a dynamic storytelling moment.

Honor is also promising six years of Android OS updates and security patches.

The Honor 400 Pro 5G will retail for £699.99 with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, but early birds can enjoy up to £150 off plus a series of extra gifts, including a 100W wired-charger, 180 day screen replacement warranty, and earbuds.
