Vodafone to reduce its environmental impact with Fairphone collaboration

Vodafone is seeking to improve the lives of a billion people by halving its environmental impact by 2025.

One way to help achieve this is a collaboration with Fairphone, and in particular the release of the Fairphone 3 on Vodafone in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Italy and Spain by the end of this year.

The Fairphone 3 is an Android based smartphone that has been built to be easily repaired and recycled, making it far more sustainable than alternative phones on the market.

As a result of this, it comes with an iFixit score of 10/10.

Different elements such as the screen, battery and camera can be easily repaired and ultimately reduce its environmental footprint. All parts can be purchased from its website.

The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable memory. The Fairphone 3 also has a 3,000mAh battery, along with a 12-megapixel camera with 4K video recording on the rear, and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera.

The handset will be available from mid November from the Fairphone website and more information on pricing and availability from Vodafone will be available later.
