Ulefone Armor 8 is the first rugged phone to get 5G

Rugged phones are considered quite a niche market, but there’s certainly a demand for strong, durable, smartphones – and now customers can enjoy 5G too.

Chinese phone maker Ulefone has announced the release of the Armor 8 5G in late November, and has produced a video below showing a comparison between it and the 4G only Apple iPhone 11.

The MediaTek Dimensity 800 powered smartphone is shown doing speed tests and the general speed improvements offered by the Armor 8 5G chipset. It’s far from scientific, but does allow you to see the phone in action.

The phone comes with a triple-camera on the rear, and a single front-facing selfie camera inside a tear-drop style notch.

Key features include:
  • Dimensity 800 chipset (5G)
  • 8GB + 256GB
  • 6.1-inch display
  • 64MP triple-camera
  • 5,080mAh battery
  • Android 10
  • IP68 rating for splash, water and dust resistance
  • IP69K under IEC standard 60529MIL-STD-810G

A 4G only version, the Armor 8, will also be available for markets without 5G and bringing a cost saving by using a Helio P60 chipset instead.

The 4G version comes with 4GB+64GB, a 16MP triple-camera, plus a 5,580mAh battery.
