Xiaomi announces global availability of new Mi 11 Ultra, with the highest DXOMARK rating to date

The fantastic looking Mi 11 Ultra is getting a release beyond China soon, although the exact details for the UK are still pending.

Xiaomi’s brand new Mi 11 Ultra is a true flagship and comes with a price to match (€1199). Not only can the phone boast many new top-spec features, but it also comes with the highest DXOMARK camera rating so far – a score of 143 – enough to knock the Huawei P40 Pro+ off its perch.

Key highlights for the Mi 11 Ultra include:

• All-new Samsung GN2 50-megapixel primary camera – jointly developed by Xiaomi and Samsung, and the first to reach 1/1.12-inches in size (and an effective pixel size of 2.8μm). The image sensor can capture light in as little as 0.02 lux.
• 48-megapixel 5x telephoto zoom with 10x hybrid and 120x digital zoom capability.
• All three cameras on the phone support 8K 24fps video.
• 6.81-inch quad-curved Samsung AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh, Dolby Vision and HDR10+, 1700 nits peak brightness, and protected by Gorilla Glass Victus.
• Secondary rear display on the rear that functions as an always-on-display and a selfie mirror.
• Dual-speaker design and a continuation of the Harman Kardon collaboration started with the Mi 11.
• 5,000mAh battery with 67W wired and wireless charging for 0-100% charge in 36 minutes and almost no difference between wired and wireless options.
• New battery tech, using silicon-oxygen anodes for a smaller size and faster charging.
• Ceramic build (black or white) with IP68 rating.
• Snapdragon 888 SoC with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage.

Pricing and Availability

Xiaomi confirmed to me that the Mi 11 Ultra is definitely coming to the UK, but could not give a UK price or release date just yet, so it’s a case of hold tight.

• Of course, you mustn’t forget about the excellent Mi 11 that IS available right now and for as little as £649.

Xiaomi also announced the Mi 11 Lite, available with 4G and 5G versions, the Mi 11i, the Mi Smart Band 6, and the Mi Smart Projector 2 Pro, to join the Mi 11 family.

Let your inner filmmaker out with an outstanding pro-grade triple camera array 

Mi 11 Ultra marks a major milestone in professional smartphone photography continuing the pioneering legacy of  Mi 10 Ultra. The pro-grade triple camera array features ultra-powerful hardware which combined with advanced software earned it the top spot in DXOMARK rating.

The device’s 50MP primary camera uses the largest smartphone camera sensor currently on the market, Samsung’s GN2. This high-end sensor jointly developed by Xiaomi and Samsung is the first to reach 1/1.12″ in size, and is capable of producing staggering 4-in-1 2.8μm Super Pixels. Powered by Xiaomi’s very own enhanced night photography algorithm it is capable of effortlessly capturing bright and detailed images with as little as 0.02 lux of light. Mi 11 Ultra is equipped with a 6.81” 120Hz WQHD+ Samsung AMOLED quad-curved DotDisplay crafted from E4 material. The display offers 1,700 nits peak brightness and can reproduce 1.07 billion colors, enabling softer and more natural color gradation, less banding and a more vivid color performance. Support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+ ensure utmost image quality. A 3200 x 1440 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 480Hz touch sampling rate combine to create an ultra smooth, fast and detailed display. Encased in Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, the display is also highly resistant to drops and scratches.

The device was tested for resistance to immersion in fresh water for up to 1.5m in depth for 30 minutes, and have added charging port moisture alerts.
