Let’s talk about Nothing….

It’s not the first time I’ve been accused of talking about nothing, but this time I really do have a point.

Yesterday saw the launch of a brand new company called ‘Nothing’. The scope for puns is near limitless, and it felt particularly weird reaching out to the PR team to ask for more information about Nothing.

Nothing is the new startup for ex-OnePlus Carl Pei, backed by a hefty round of initial seed financing (US $7m) helping to get the venture off the ground – including investments from big names like YouTuber Casey Neistat, Co-founder of Reddit, Steve Huffman, and the co-inventor of the iPhone, Tony Fadell.

The first smart devices are stated as coming in the first half of 2021, and you can be certain that the company has now got our full and undivided attention.

This doesn’t necessarily mean just sitting back and waiting to see what the company does, as the company is actively recruiting people to play a part in this new venture – so if you fancy getting involved in shaping the future of the firm, pop along to the Nothing careers page right now.

There are jobs in the UK, Sweden and India.

Press Release

London, UK – January 27, 2021 – Nothing, a new forward-thinking consumer technology company based in London and founded by Carl Pei and his team, has officially been unveiled today.

This announcement comes shortly after a $7 million round in seed financing in December 2020 that included notable tech leaders and investors such as Tony Fadell, Casey Neistat, Kevin Lin, Steve Huffman and Josh Buckley.

“It’s been a while since anything interesting happened in tech. It is time for a fresh breeze of change,” said Carl Pei, CEO and founder of Nothing. “Nothing’s mission is to remove barriers between people and technology to create a seamless digital future. We believe that the best technology is beautiful, yet natural and intuitive to use. When sufficiently advanced, it should fade into the background and feel like nothing.”

Nothing will be releasing its first smart devices in the first half of this year.

“Consumer tech is a tidal wave of limitless potential. Nothing will be the brand at the forefront and I can’t wait for the world to experience their products,” said Casey Neistat, YouTuber and Investor in Nothing.
