Xiaomi promises up to four years of Android support with forthcoming release of Xiaomi 11T and Xiaomi 11T Pro

Xiaomi will be launching two new models to add to the Mi 11 (now Xiaomi 11) series, and as part of this news comes details of how long users can expect support in terms of OS and security updates.

The Xiaomi 11T is expected to bring many features of the current Xiaomi (Mi) 11 at a lower price point, but with a larger battery and a switch to MediaTek’s Dimensity 5G chipset. The Xiaomi 11T Pro will retain a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 or 888+ SoC, with Xiaomi already revealing that it will also come with 120W fast-charging.

Now users can enjoy three years of Android OS updates, as well as four years of security patches.

More information about the new handsets themselves will become known at the launch event, taking place on September 15th.

Xiaomi will also evaluate the possibility of bringing the extended Android system and security upgrades services to more Xiaomi devices. “It is not a simple task for Xiaomi and its team to provide system updates and security patches to all of its previous smartphone models. However, the prospect of this challenge and meeting the desires of our customers is exciting.
