Honor has today announced the release date as June 21st for the Honor 20, the mid-range model in the Honor 20 series that was announced last month.

It follows the entry level Honor 20 Lite (£25), and precedes the flagship Honor 20 Pro that was unceremoniously held up as part of Donald Trump’s trade war with China that saw the handset unable to get Google certification in time.

The Honor 20 comes with Huawei’s top-spec Kirin 980 chipset, a 6.26-inch display (1080×2340 pixels), 6GB of RAM, 128GB storage, plus a 3,750mAh battery with 22.5W SuperCharge support.

On the photography side is a quad-camera setup that consists of a 48-megapixel primary camera (f/1.8), 16-megapixel super wide angle camera (f/2.2) and a further two 2-megapixel cameras for depth assistance and macro photography (4cm). Up front is a 32-megapixel selfie camera (f/2.0).

The handset also comes with GPU Turbo 3.0 and Virtual 9.1 Surround Sound, along with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5 connectivity.

Like the flagship model, the Honor 20 also comes with a dynamic holographic design on the rear casing (with two colours; sapphire blue or midnight black), along with the fingerprint sensor mounted on the side.

The Honor 20 will go on sale Friday June 21st at Three, Amazon, Mobile Phones Direct, Very and Carphone Warehouse – along with the Honor store.

Retailing at £399, customers who pre-order by June 20th will receive a free Honor Watch Magic, with up to 7 days battery life per charge, worth £179.99.

For anyone with concerns over the current issues with Huawei/Honor, the company has stated that existing models (which includes the Honor 20 Lite and Honor 20) will receive OS and security updates from Google as normal, as well as access to the Play store, YouTube etc.
