Virgin Mobile drops EE as network provider in favour of Vodafone; offering 5G and unlimited data options

Virgin Mobile users will be switched from EE’s network to that of Vodafone from the end of next year, as part of a five-year deal with Vodafone.

Virgin has always used the same mobile network to provide its virtual network operation, since its launch in 1999 on one2one’s network, through to the renamed T-Mobile network, and then EE once T-Mobile and Orange merged.

The new deal, which starts in 2021 and lasts until 2026, will give Virgin Mobile users access to Vodafone’s 5G network in due course, and also access to unlimited data plans.

Existing customers will not need to change SIM card, although there could be issues in some areas where coverage changes due to the different location of cellular sites.
