OnePlus in Europe reports strong start to 2021 with over 300% growth, backed by impressive flagship line performance

Registers 388% increase in sales and 286% increase in revenue in Q1 2021 compared to Q1 2020

OnePlus flagship line contributed to 65% of the revenue, including the recently launched OnePlus 9 Series

Top 3 countries as per the contribution to the Q1 revenue are Finland, Germany and the UK

London, April 28, 2021: Global technology company OnePlus reported a strong start to 2021 from the European region, with a substantial 388% surge in sales and 286% rise in revenue in Q1 2021, in comparison to the same quarter last year. This growth is largely fuelled by its flagship smartphone range, contributing 65% to the overall revenue, including the recently launched OnePlus 9 Series. In France and Spain, the OnePlus 9 Pro achieved outstanding results including the best-selling smartphone on Amazon on the first day of sales.

Northern Europe emerged as the best performing region, contributing over 30%, the highest contribution to the region’s revenue, closely followed by Western Europe. This performance aligns with the company’s growth strategy to capitalise on opportunities in the Nordic region, Belgium and Netherlands. The Central Eastern European region also made a healthy contribution, closing in at the third position, which reemphasizes OnePlus’ growing focus in this region with strategic investments to expand its presence here. Amongst the countries, the top three performing markets include Finland, Germany and the UK.

Speaking on the occasion, Tuomas Lampen, Head of Strategy, OnePlus Europe, said, “We are off to an excellent start in 2021 in Europe, thanks to the strong performance of the flagship range, growing community in Europe and continued investments in key markets like Northern Europe and our focus on new markets such as CEE for a sustainable growth. In the future, we will continue to work towards bringing a wider product portfolio of future-ready 5G devices, working together with our community and making OnePlus a name to reckon with when it comes to a reliable and premium smartphone experience at all price points.”

The success is a continuation of the brand’s impressive performance in the Northern European region last year, where OnePlus was one of the top three smartphone brands in Finland and Denmark, as per Counterpoint Research’s Market Monitor for Q4 2020. According to the report, in Finland, OnePlus ranked as the number one 5G Android brand, stood second in the Android smartphone market in Denmark and in the Netherlands, and was at the third position in the smartphone market above the $400 price band, in the same period.

Over the years, OnePlus has created some of the industry’s most widely praised flagship smartphones. The latest addition to flagship portfolio is the OnePlus 9 Series, the brand’s most advanced flagship smartphone lineup yet, featuring a top-tier flagship camera experience with the Hasselblad Camera for Mobile system, next-generation high refresh rate displays and fast wireless charging technology that outperforms the wired charging solutions of most of its competitors.  Today, OnePlus serves the market with a diverse product portfolio comprising premium and mid-segment smartphones, the recently introduced OnePlus Watch, its first connected wearable for global markets, and wireless audio accessories. Last year, with the introduction of the OnePlus Nord and OnePlus Nord N Series as an extension of the brand’s Never Settle approach, OnePlus expanded its focus on creating the best products and user experience into the mid-range segment, making the OnePlus experience available to more users around the world.

To further make the OnePlus experience accessible to even more users, starting from May 3rd on OnePlus.com, Amazon and John Lewis the OnePlus 8T 8GB + 128GB will be available from £449, while the 8T 12GB + 256GB will be at £549. From the same date on OnePlus.com, Amazon and John Lewis OnePlus Nord 8GB + 128GB will be available from £329 and the 12GB + 256GB from £419.
