Motorola launches the Edge 40 neo alongside three new Moto G-series models

One day, four models. No, this isn’t the iPhone 15 launch where you’ll need to remortgage your house. These are four affordable smartphones, where the most expensive starts at under £300!

Following on from the recent Razr 40 and 40 Ultra launches, some models get exclusive PANTONE colour schemes and vegan leather finishes, and two models a high-spec 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS and Ultra Pixel technology to give an effective 2μm pixel size.

So let’s go through the list one-by-one…

Motorola Moto Edge 40 neo

With its IP68 rating, the Moto Edge 40 neo will be usable anywhere (and it comes with a eco-friendly protective case in the box), and it has a large 6.55-inch curved pOLED display with 10-bit colour, 144Hz refresh rate and 1,300 nits peak brightness, stereo sound with Dolby Audio and Spatial Sound by Motorola, a 5,000mAh battery with 68W fast-charging (taking you from 0-50% in 15 minutes) and is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7030 5G SoC.

Cameras include a 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS and Ultra Pixel technology, coupled with a 13-megapixel ultra-wide. On the front is a 32-megapixel Quad Pixel selfie snapper.

The phone is available in three colour shades; Black Beauty, Soothing Sea, and Caneel Bay.

The Moto Edge 40 neo also supports the ability to share the mobile experience to a TV or monitor, as well as connecting to a PC to access phone apps and files on the same display – even using the phone camera as a webcam.

Prices start at £299 and the phone is available to buy from mid-September via www.motorola.co.uk.

Motorola Moto G14

This phone has been announced previously, but is part of the new range of Moto G-series phones that have now been offering extremely high-value devices to consumers since the original Moto G launched ten years ago!

The Moto G14 will cost from £139.99 via www.motorola.co.uk, and it comes with an impressive 6.5-inch Full HD+ display, stereo sound with Dolby Atmos and Spatial Sound by Motorola, along with a 50-megapixel camera that isn’t as advanced as the more expensive models, but nobody would expect to be.

There’s still a large 5,000mAh battery to keep you going for a good couple of days between charges, but it doesn’t have the same fast-charging as its more expensive peers (it gets a 10W charger in the box instead).

But throw in 128GB of expandable storage and this is still going to sell in large numbers to people not wanting exactly the same as everyone else (the Moto G14 is also 4G-only) – but still wanting a good display and battery life.

The very first Moto G was launched in 2013 and has gone from strength to strength
Motorola Moto G54 5G

The Moto G54 5G is not hugely dissimilar to the Moto G84 5G below, so that means it still has a 5,000mAh battery, some great colour options, fast-charging, stereo sound with Dolby Atmos and Spatial Sound by Motorola, and a 6.5-inch Full HD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate.

The 50-megapixel camera has OIS and Quad Pixel technology, along with a second 2-megapixel macro camera.

The Moto G54 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7020 SoC, and pricing starts at £179.99 when it goes on sale mid-September via www.motorola.co.uk.

It comes with the fast-charging power supply and a protective case in the box too.

Motorola Moto G84 5G

So as said above, the Moto G84 5G is quite similar in many ways to the cheaper Moto G54 – but the key differences come in the form of a 6.5-inch 120Hz pOLED display, a 50-megapixel camera with OIS and Ultra Pixel technology (offering better low-light capabilities), PANTONE colour options (including Viva Magenta, which complements the recently launched Moto Razr 40 Ultra variant), and a 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera in lieu of a macro camera.

The Moto G84 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G SoC, and can also be connected to a TV or Monitor like the Moto Edge 40 neo, as well as to a PC for sharing files and using the phone as a webcam.

The 5,000mAh battery can be charged at 30W, and the power adapter and a protective case comes in the box.

Prices start from £249.99 and the Moto G84 goes on sale in mid-September via www.motorola.co.uk.
