EE launches affordable Wi-Fi Calling phones and two new portable hotspots.

When EE finally turned on Wi-Fi calling a couple of weeks ago, it promised there would be more handsets to come to suit all budgets.

And now here they are; the Harrier and Harrier Mini – each with Android Lollipop.

The £199.99 (PAYG) Harrier, also available on contract, comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD display, and is powered by an octo-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It comes with Cat 4 LTE support (150/50Mbps), a 13-megapixel camera, and a 2,500mAh battery. Plus, of course, Wi-Fi Calling compatibility.

The £99.99 (PAYG) Harrier Mini, again also available on contract, comes with a smaller 4.7-inch 720p display (yes, 4.7-inches is now ‘mini’) and 8-megapixel camera, and is powered by a more humble quad-core processor.

The Harrier Mini will be the cheapest phone from EE to support Wi-Fi Calling, which will be activated on both models later in the summer via a software update.

Both handsets will ship from April 28th.

Portable 4G hotspots

EE is also launching two new portable Wi-Fi hotspots today.

The Osprey 2 comes with a 5,150mAh battery that can also double up as a portable charger for other devices, while the Osprey 2 Mini is a more compact version that can be customised using one of three coloured ‘bumpers’. Both allow up to ten devices to connect to the Internet via a Wi-Fi connection to the device.

The Osprey 2 will be free on pay monthly mobile broadband plans from £15 a month (3GB), or £69.99 on PAYG with 6GB of data included. The Osprey 2 Mini will also be free on pay monthly plans from £15 a month (3GB), or £49.99 on PAYG with 6GB of data.
