Vodafone launches 5G pay as you go service, with unlimited data option and free 5G roaming

Vodafone has launched 5G for people who would rather do without a contract, and there’s now an unlimited data option too.

Unlimited Data on PAYG for £40 a month

Customers who already have, or intend to buy, a SIM-free 5G phone can now take advantage of 5G on PAYG at no extra charge.

With a range of bundles offering between 3GB and 20GB (but currently there are triple data promotions on these), right up to the new unlimited data bundle at £40, there’s something for everyone.

As it stands, Vodafone is the only operator offering 5G roaming with access to a total of 108 locations around the world (40 in the UK and 68 within mainland Europe).

EE, O2 and Three are still to introduce 5G roaming anywhere.

Vodafone was also recently named the best network by nPerf, taking into consideration download speed, upload speed, latency, browsing and streaming performance.

Three handsets are currently available to buy on PAYG via Vodafone’s, which are the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G, Huawei Mate 20 X 5G and the Galaxy S10 5G.

“We want to enable our customers to do what they want when they want – our Unlimited plans do just that. Launching a contract-free 5G Unlimited plan will give more people the opportunity to experience the next generation of speed and connectivity without being committed to a contract – giving them the power to be as flexible as they want.”

Nick Jeffery, Vodafone UK CEO
