Xiaomi launches latest Band 5 fitness tracker and wireless earphones (plus two e-scooters)

Xiaomi held an event today with no new phones, concentrating instead on new accessories.

In this case, the company launched the Band 5 fitness tracker, the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic, and even some new e-scooters.

Mi Band 5

The Band 5 comes with a 1.1-inch AMOLED display with 450nits maximum brightness and a screen resolution of 126×294 pixels.

It comes with a number of strap colours, including black, orange, navy blue, yellow, teal and mint green.

Unlike previous bands, the Band 5 now comes with a new magnetic charging system that does away with the need to pop the main unit out of the strap to charge.

The 125mAh battery fitted inside is good for up to 14 days standby time.

An improved PPG heart rate sensor is accompanied with a 3-axis accelerator and 3-axis gyroscope sensor for enhanced tracking, and the improved display makes it easier to view activity statistics, messages and notifications at-a-glance.

There are over 65 different theme options manageable via the Mi Fit app, and the band is now good for submersion in water at up to 50 metres depth.

Another cool feature is the ability to take a camera shot using the band as a remote control.

The price is €39.99 and the Band 5 will be available direct from Xiaomi direct and many other online retailers.
