EE comes top in RootMetrics network testing for seventh year in a row; number one for 5G too

EE has once again top in the RootMetrics network test, an independent company that has ranked EE top for seven years in a row – and now puts EE top for to 5G too.

The report found that EE had the highest availability of 5G in 16 UK cities tested, more than double that of the next placed operator.

In London, EE has five times greater 5G coverage than all other operators.

29 July, London: EE has today been named the UK’s no.1 5G network and the UK’s best network for seven years running. According to the latest independent testing by RootMetrics, EE’s 5G offers the best combination of fast speeds and coverage, with the highest 5G availability in all 16 major UK cities tested.

Independent analysis of 5G reliability, speed and coverage found EE’s 5G network to be the no. 1 in the UK, offering 5G in more places than any other UK network. Tests reveal that EE’s highest 5G availability is more than double that of the next placed operator. In London, EE’s 5G availability is over five times greater than all other operators. RootMetrics’ ‘availability’ measure shows how often devices connected to 5G during data testing across each city.

EE continues to dominate in UK wide overall mobile network testing, winning six RootScore Awards outright – overall performance, reliability, accessibility, speed, data and call – and taking joint first for text.

EE’s network achieved the fastest aggregate median speed of all operators at 42.6 Mbps, and its aggregate median speeds in England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland were faster than all the other networks tested.

RootMetrics carried out 537,780 tests across 16 cities in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
