Samsung gives Motorola Razr some sharp competition with the Galaxy Z Flip [Updated]
Having already shown an advert at the Super Bowl, the Galaxy Z Flip didn’t turn out to have many surprises at today’s launch event.
At £1300 SIM-free, and on sale this Friday (Valentine’s Day no less), it is definitely throwing the cat amongst the pigeons.
Perhaps not as nice looking as the Motorola Razr (but such things are subjective), the Galaxy Z Flip has a more simplistic design.
There’s no outer display to speak of, but there is a higher specification when it comes to the camera and chipset.
The screen has a proprietary bendable ultra-thin glass (UTG) that makes the screen slim, while a hideaway hinge allows the phone to remain open at a range of angles like a laptop.
The 3,300mAh battery, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage is pretty impressive, as well as two 12-megapixel rear cameras and an embedded 10-megapixel selfie camera.
Whether people buying either of these folding phones are going to be that concerned about the specification remains to be seen, as they’re almost certainly going after a more fashion conscious market.
Despite the price, there are likely plenty of people willing to shell out as much to own one of these as others will pay for the flagship Galaxy S20 Ultra.
